What I Ate Wednesday (WIAW) is a wonderful idea coined from the fabulous Ms Jenn over at Peas and Crayons. Rather than describe it myself, I’m going to allow Jenn to do it….
[ What I Ate Wednesday ]
What-I-Ate blogs are taking over the internet. Mainly because the little voyeur in all of us gets pretty darn curious sometimes… I mean, we obviously see what we eat ever second of every day… but what on earth does everyone else put in their faces? So as a Registered Dietitian in-the-making, a former vegetarian, and a current whole food eating nutrition nut, I decided to give you a little weekly peek at my eats for an entire day. The good, the odd, and the “she ate WHAT!?” — it’s all there!
This weekly food diary has been a fabulous way for me to reflect on my eating habits and spot out patterns, slip-ups, and successes! What I eat on workout days, sick days, on the road and even on lazy days spent curled up — it’s all different and I learn something new about myself every time!Looking back at a full day of eats has benefited my healthy eating goals so much, that I wanted to share the love by making it into a blog link party for everyone to join in on! Helloooo virtual pot-luck!
What started as a once-a-week food diary has now turned into a bloggy social event every Wednesday! I’ve met so many fabulous new bloggers from WIAW and love getting meal inspiration from everyone’s posts! It’s also been a great tool for shaking up a food rut + finding new, exciting ways to eat your favorite foods! Without WIAW I might not of realized that PB+J quesadillas and uber green smoothies with spinach were absolutely amazing together. Everyone is different so it makes sense that we all eat differently too — some of us can’t have dairy… or gluten… or sugar while others favor restaurant adventures, or sustainable eating or even paleo-centric eats. There’s no right or wrong way to eat, and its fun learning about everyone else’s habits. If it all seems like a crazy hot mess to you, don’t stress it – life is supposed to be a little nutty!
—What WIAW isn’t about—-
Comparison – Judgement – Restriction – Guilt
—-What WIAW is about—-
Celebrating one of the glorious things we all have in common: We all eat!
WIAW is about food and fun! It’s about making new friends, breaking out of a food rut, noting changes in your diet/lifestyle, inspiring yourself & others, embracing fruit & vegetables, nourishing your body with the foods that work for you, finding new ways to eat your favorite foods, and so. much. more. ❤
Celebrate Food. Celebrate blogging. Celebrate Individuality.
[Cause over here, we like to party!]
Want to join in on the fun?
I’d love to see a day in the life of you! Meals, snacks, drinks – all that good stuff! Don’t stress it if you forget to photograph a snack or even forget an entire meal until long after the plate has been licked clean… just post the rest of the goodies! You can even put a fun spin on your WIAW. Holiday editions, Bday eats, Travel, Road Trips, etc… Have fun with it! =) Bonus points for featuring veggies ❤
Simply photograph a day of meals any day of the week and create your What I Ate Wednesday post to link up on any (and every!) Wednesday you choose. What I Ate [Last] Wednesday posts are popular and so are Monday and Tuesday eats! ❤ Make sure you add the WIAW button to your post [this will allow your readers to join in on the fun too!] and link up more than just one meal/recipe. Now get your party pants on and join us every Wednesday for a fun food diary party!
I am going to continue doing WIAW inorder to share with you what I eat on a daily basis. My hopes is that it will inspire you to eat healthier, or even just to give you fresh new ideas. I will also be sure to post any recipes that I come up with! So, without further adue.. Welcome to my first WIAW!
First: Meat Crust Quiche
by PaleOMG. I love this because it’s something that I make on Sunday during my food prep (inspired by The Lean Green Bean Blog
) and it will last me for 6 days! Since it has meat in it, 6 days is perfect now since we’re in Lent. However, I’m sure that I could cut it and make it into 7 pieces for after Lent!
Second: Grilled chicken seasoned with Chicken Blend Mrs Dash, and asparagus & mushrooms seasoned with Garlic & Herd Mrs Dash.. I was obviously catching up on some PaleOMG blog while I was eating my lunch, before I had to go grade 300 chemistry exams!
Fourth: 3/4 of a sweet potato (done in the microwave!), ground turkey (seasoned with paprika, chili powder, and cheyenne powder), topped with picante salsa! (This is a Biggest Loser inspired dish, which you can read about on a previous post.)
As you can see, if you had any doubt before about going paleo meaning that I never eat you are extremely wrong! Just so happens that now I eat delicious healthy foods that help fuel my body for everything that I do! It’s such an amazing feeling and I’m so happy that I made the switch!
