So it’s Wednesday. FINALLY! Let us first start with thanking Miss Jenn over at Peas & Crayons for hosting this wonderful party every week! THANKS JENN!
So now onto what happened to me food-wise (with a bit of life splashed in) on Tuesday.
I started out the morning NOT wanting to get up and go to the gym. Well, luckily when I turned over and looked at my phone (specifically on Instagram) I saw that Lisa at Run Fast Mama had posted her workout and it was EXACTLY what I needed to drag my butt out of bed. So I went downstairs into my basement and did a 30 minute circuit!
This was then followed by a coffee Herbalife shake which was DELICIOUS!
Then, as usual, I had a mid-morning snack which was medium sized Granny Smith apple. Per usual I forgot to take a picture.
Then was lunch time. 1/2 sweet potato, pork tenderloin, and some baked veggies.
Sometime after finishing my column (science-y stuff) at work I decided to have another snack. Hummus w/ celery and carrots, followed by half a Quest Bar.
Dinner was unpictured and some pizza.. How could I pass up pizza when my wonderful boyfriend called, said that it sounds like I had a long day, and that he had pizza if I wanted to come over for dinner!!!
So, last night I decided to give overnight oats a try.. WELL, I’m trying to go mostly gluten free and luckily before I decided this I picked up steel cut oats as my new oatmeal.. While mine are not certified GF, since it’s not for a medical reason a tiny bit here and there won’t kill me.
ANYWAYS, I really had no idea what I was doing so I just looked at someone’s online version to know proportions and then added what I wanted.
1/4 c steel cut oats
1/2 c almond milk (or milk of choice)
1 tsp cinnamon
1 scoop Muscle Milk Light Chocolate Protein Powder
(Mine had 1/8 c sugar free syrup in it too, but I’m going to omit that next time because it doesn’t need the added sweetness due to the sweet protein powder.)
Stir all ingredients together, I put mine in a wide-mouth mason jar. Place in fridge overnight. Eat cold, or nuke for a bit to warm it, in the morning. I ate my cold, but might try it warm next time.
Seriously. AMAZING! It’s perfect for after my morning workouts (when I’m already at school) and I can have my protein powder and my breakfast in one!
NOT to mention that the combinations are endless! I’ll keep adding more mixtures here as I try them, but tonight I’m going to make: Vanilla Muscle Milk Light, sans cinnamon, plus frozen fruit.
Sometimes I don’t know what I like most about Fridays.. The fact that it’s Friday.. Or that I get to eye-oogle a delicious paleo cupcake.. Or that I get to randomly rant about five things that strike my fancy.. I know! Such a hard decision!!
Today I think I’m going to have to pick THESE delicious looking cupcakes!! I mean who doesn’t love chocolate?! Oh, you don’t? Well you’re just weird!! JUST KIDDING, please don’t leave!!! I’m just saying that chocolate is DELICIOUS and we should all head over to Health-Bent and let Brandon & Megan know that we think they’re awesome! Both them and the cupcakes!
1. Speaking of Health-Bent I just recently purchased their new cookbook and I couldn’t be happier!! It’s beautiful!! There are a few things that I love.. a) they don’t use any almond flour! I love that because that stuff is EXPENSIVE! Seriously, next time you’re in your local grocery store check it out!! Sometimes you can find a 16oz for $2 off, but then it’s still about $9!! b) there is a picture for EVERY recipe!! SO cool!! Oh, I also got Paleo Cooking from Elana’s Pantry the other day! So happy to finally have paleo cookbooks!!
2.I finally made a real breakfast this week!! I’ve really been on the kick of just eating some almond butter with an apple.. I need to stop that because, as I’ve mentioned before, nuts make my face breakout! And breakouts are NOT fun!
3. I got my first tomato out of my garden the other day!! My boyfriend said it was delicious!! I don’t like raw tomatoes, so I tried it and thought it was gross.. BUT cooked into a dish and I could definitely see how it would be awesome!!
4. This FroYo place being close to me is getting deadly.. It’s SOOOOO delicious.. I may or may not have made my way twice this week.. and it may or may not have been in back to back nights… whoops.
