Vega Bar Review

I was fortunate enough to be given the opportunity to review some Vega Bars!

As the name indicates, Vega bars are plant-based VEGAN snack bars.  After an epic fail of opening up the box I was excited to try these bars.. I was given 8 different bars: four sport bars (2 protein, 2 energy), two snack bars, and two Vega One meal bars.

I first tried the Dark Chocolate Mixed Nut and Sea Salt bar at school one day when I got my 3pm hunger.. It was DELICIOUS! It was like a block of dark chocolate with sea salt, but better and healthier! I would definitely recommend it!

The next one I tried was the Chocolate Coconut protein sport bar! I went for the protein one because I ran in the morning AND did T25 so I knew my body would need some extra protein during the day.. It was alright..  The taste was good, but the inside of the bar was pretty ‘chalky’.. The second protein bar, Chocolate Mint, was the same way.. Chalky.. Honestly I would NOT recommend these.

This could be because I’m not vegan so I’m used to eating that type of consistency, but it was just not good.

The last bar that I tried was the other snack bar, Cranberry Almond. Let me tell you, I love both cranberry and almonds and I HATED this bar. I only ate it because I was hungry.. it was sticky so I wouldn’t even touch it with my hands.. and it was just not good.. definitely would not recommend it.

I haven’t tried either of the meal bars, nor the energy sport bars.. I plan on trying the energy sport bar before my run today.. And I’m not a fan of ‘meal bars’ because I think they’re just silly.. But they might be good to put in my desk at work incase I need some food if I get caught here longer than I anticipate.

So, out of the four bars that I tried I only enjoyed one. You can take from that what you want, but this is just an honest review of products that I received to try!

Lunatik Athletiks Zuza Review

So, I was lucky enough to be offered to review a pair of Zuza Compression socks from Lunatik Athletiks! I was allowed to pick the pair that I wanted to try and to be completely honest it was NOT an easy choice! I decided to go with the Energetic Argyle ones, though I loved them all!

So I received them last Friday the 23rd.. I got home from work and was debating not going for a run and just pushing it off until Saturday, which is normally my rest day. However, when I got home and saw that I got a package I immediately knew what it was and HAD to take them for a spin!

I think I had that picture taken before I even had my backpack off of my back.. Seriously I was stoked! If you follow me on Instagram you’d already know that! But anyways, I got changed to go for my 5K run (supposed to be 3miles, but the route is a bit longer so I normally just round it off to a normal 5K).

Aren’t they just beautiful?? I was so excited! I actually decided to wear all black on my run so that the socks would POP! Yes, I am a girl!

So anyways, put on the socks and wasn’t really expecting a great run or anything. I’d ran four miles on Tuesday & Thursday (9:03pace & 8:51pace respectively) and my legs were pretty much beat. So I started out letting my legs do the talking.. but a mile in I realized I was making great time.. 8:55 for the first mile.. I just kept on keeping on, second mile 8:34pace. At this point I owed my pace to these awesome socks! My legs were so beat before putting them on that I figured my pace for the run was going to be close to 10minutes.

Ended the last mile at 8:20pace, then the last .1mile (5K=3.1miles) in 49seconds.

Couldn’t have been happier with these socks! I wish I wouldn’t have drank so much on Saturday so that I would have been able to get my but out of bed BEFORE 5:30pm to actually do my 8mile training run.. Lucky for me I have another 8 miler planned for this weekend, so it’s not really going to set me back for my training.. Seriously, NEVER drinking again!

Ok.. maybe just not for a while.. 😉

Anyways, back to Lunatik.. I would recommend these socks to EVERYONE! They’re fun, GREAT for runs, and I’m sure that they’ll be great for recovery too! They also have running skirts (which are ALL adorable), as well as, compression socks & sleeves for men and women! Seriously check them out, you won’t be disappointed!

Rockin’ Ribbons Headband Review

Rockin’ Ribbons! Isn’t that just fun?? SO, I was lucky enough to be offered to try one of Danielle’s awesome ribbon headbands! Go check out all she has to offer!

Here are some of the colors that she has..

Pictures from Rockin’ Ribbons facebook page.

I decided to go with the solid baby blue. Why you ask? Well, that would be because I knew that I’d LOVE to wear it in my triathlon.. So why blue? Well, if you don’t remember.. head over to the Motor City Triathlon recap and you’ll see that that pretty baby blue is part of my race kit!

So yes. Blue it was!

I was SOO excited when I received the envelope from Danielle! You see, the first one that she sent got lost in the mail.. Seriously, someone probably saw how awesome it was and then snatched it up for themselves.. Mean ol’ mail people! JUST KIDDING! I don’t really think that mail people do that! But, it was due to this mix up that I didn’t get to wear it at Motor City!

Anyways, back to what I was saying! I WAS SO EXCITED. Honestly. I had a few friends over when I checked the mail and almost screamed when I realized that I finally got the headband.. Yes, sometimes I AM a bit overdramatic! Lucky me, I got to go golfing the next day with my boyfriend and decided to check out how it fit/held up in the heat!

photo 1 (39)

Worked wonderfully! Not to mention that my boyfriend had on the EXACT SAME COLOR shirt! So it looked like we were trying to match.. yes.. sometime we are adorable! OH, and it matches my eyes.. pretty pretty! But most importantly, the headband fit perfectly! Kept all of my ‘fly-aways’ away from my face.. And I’m going to give the headband the credit for my ALMOST hole-in-one!

SO, what makes these headbands different from the ones you’re probably using now?! Well, first of all, they are made of ribbon. Yup, hence the name “Rockin’ Ribbons Headbands”.. The inside of the headband (the part that touches your hair), is lined with velvet ribbon. THIS is the key ‘ingredient’ as to why they don’t move around! Then the top ribbon is the pretty part, and there is some elastic around the back of your head to connect both sides of the ribbon.

So what do I think? Well, I’ve ran in this, golfed, and raced my last triathlon (recap to come soon) and have had no problems with needing to move it because it’s slipped! AND that’s saying a lot because in the tri I wore it under my swim cap, under my helmet, then just on my head to run.. No problems.

Rockin’ it across the finish line at Tri For Life last weekend!

photo 2 (38)

Cheesin’ it out when my dad was taking a picture, waiting for awards! Look how great it’s keeping all of my ‘fly-aways’ in place!

I would definitely recommend this product to anyone looking to get a GREAT headband! Whether it be for working out or even just hanging out, they are perfect!

SO, you can get your own Rockin’ Ribbons Headbands over at the facebook page! They’re only $9 a piece! PLUS, if you follow on twitter (@Rockin_Ribbons) you’ll hear about all of the promos and discounts that are happening!
