Thinking Out Loud..

Recently I’ve been seeing Ms Gina over at Health Love and Chocolate posting about the Thinking Out Loud party that Ms Amanda puts on! I decided that I needed to get in with the fun!

Since this is a ‘thinking out loud’ post I’m just going to let my thoughts ramble on..

Tuesday night we started to get snow.. yup, snow, in the middle of March.. Michigan is just a WONDERFUL state.. ugh. But seriously.. snow. I got up at 7, because that’s basically my ‘sleeping in’ time, and decided at 7:30am to shovel. Oh the joys. Not to mention that it was just wonderful because the snow was coming down so hard that by the time I finished shoveling there was a fresh layer of snow on the drive and sidewalk again.

But despite this snow. You know what’s exciting?! 1. Getting to drink coffee out of a coffee mug instead of a travel mug. 2. Knowing that UPS has a package that is supposed to be delivered!

So I’ve been on a bit of a shopping spree. I KNOW I KNOW, I shouldn’t, but sometimes I can’t help it.. And since I KNOW you guys want to know what I’m waiting for in the mail, let’s talk about it.

1. THIS backpack.. I’ve been using a Vera Bradley tote and I think that it’s part of the reason that my back has been bothering me so much, so I decided to get a new backpack because the only one that I have (well still have, since I downsized) I’m bored with!

To understand the second thing I order you need to understand, first, that I’m a bit insane, and secondly, that I really enjoy running. You see, I volunteered at the Shamrock and Shenanigans 5k on Sunday which means that I have a $30 Running Fit race voucher heading my way soon… SO I’m debating what race to use it for. Tuesday I signed up for two races; Trail Half Marathon and Weekend Warrior Half Marathon. This means that the $30 needs to go towards another race, specifically a Running Fit race.

The next logical race to use it on would be Run! Woodstock in September, but I’ve been going around and around with what distance I want to run there. You see, at Woodstock you can run a 5 mile, half, full, 50k, 50 mile, 100k or 100 mile. Let me say really fast that I’m DEFINITELY not wanting to run the 50 miler – 100 miler, but I’m debating doing my first ultra (the 50k) or the half.

So I took to facebook to ask a running group I’m in about running an ultra.. and.. I’ve decided to be insane and go for it! Since June – September is basically tri season for mean, it means that I would be training for an ultra while tri-training.. I believe that might be a good thing because it will keep me ‘cross-training’ and I won’t end up injured.

SO. #2. Relentless Forward Progress: A Guide to Running Ultramarathons! It was a suggestion from someone on the SEMR group page and I decided an ultra training book wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Alright. I’ll get back to talking about my leap to running an ultra once I actually sign up for it.. I was just too excited to not tell you guys!

Well I hope you enjoyed my thinking out loud! You all are troopers!
